CELT Academic Practice 


The Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching and Newport Graduate School link to ensure that opportunities are available to staff to develop their academic practice and share experiences across a spectrum of activities.  The focus of Academic Practice within CELT is on advanced scholarship, which is founded upon innovation, the creation of new knowledge and critical reflection on existing knowledge.

The Academic Practice strand of CELT aims to work alongside academics and learning support staff to increase engagement with advanced scholarship by offering opportunities for:

• Peer support
• Sharing best practice
• Developing communities of learning and teaching innovation
• Reward and recognition
• Publication of practice-based and research pieces
• Dissemination of best practice within and beyond the University of Wales Newport
• Engagement with professional bodies relevant to the Higher Education context
• Engagement with local, national and international networks

The CELT Academic Practice workshop series draws upon current developments being undertaken by staff and students as well as external members of the CELT community. Our aim is to provide a positive contribution to the enhancement of the student experience, by empowering colleagues to adopt innovative, reflective and research-informed approaches to pedagogic practice.
