With a number of events, projects and activities planned to celebrate the long-standing reputation of this discipline at the institution, the university is proud to acknowledge the past, present and future of Photography at Newport through this landmark year of celebrations.

MA/MFA Documentary Photography Exhibition | October 12 – 14 |
This is a unique opportunity to experience a spectacular array of diverse and innovative work from the University’s postgraduate students in Photography.
Symposium, Exhibition and Celebration | Date: Friday 30th November 2012 - Saturday 1st December 2012
This year, 2012 marks the Centenary of the study of photography at Newport. Newport is delighted to host a two-day symposium and special alumni celebration event as part of the year’s activities.
Symposium – Day 1 – Either/And
Date: Friday 30th November 2012, 1pm to 6pm
The European Centre for Photographic Research (eCPR) is delighted to host a series of papers from the PH: The Postgraduate Photography Research Network. The symposium is an opportunity to hear and respond to papers from members of PH that will provide representative preview of content that will be on Either/And.org over the next nine months.
Symposium – Day 2 – Talking/Pictures
Date: Saturday 1st December 2012, 9.30 am – 6pm
Continuing its commitment to the photographic medium, photography’s histories and diverse practices, eCPR is delighted to bring together a group of international practitioners to talk about their various approaches in working with the medium of photography.
Newport Photography Alumni Exhibition Event – Day 1
Date: Friday 30 November 2012, 6pm til 9pm
The alumni of Newport’s photography courses include some of the key figures in contemporary photography. The exhibition primarily focuses on the period between 1973, when David Hurn established the acclaimed Documentary Photography course, and the present day.
Newport Photography Alumni Celebration Supper – Day 1
Date: Friday 30th November, 6.30pm – late
The Alumni Celebration Supper provides a chance to meet the alumni of Newport’s photography courses. There will be the opportunity to relax, discuss and meet old friends – perhaps make new ones on the way. The Celebration Supper will take place at Newport’s City Campus Refectory, which is adjacent to the Wall Gallery.
