Paying your Deposit
Students may be asked to pay a deposit (amount to be confirmed in offer letter) to secure their place on a course.
Once you have paid your required deposit to secure your place this will form part of your tuition fees when you arrive at the University. When you enrol on your course 50% of your first year fee is payable to us. The remaining 50% of your fee is payable at the end of the first semester, which is in January for students starting in September.
A deposit of £200 will be required if you are staying in Halls of Residence
As an approximate guide, we estimate that you should budget for living expenses of £5,000 - £6,000 per year, not including travel costs to and from your home country. This is based on a single student, in University accommodation and includes subsistence for 39 weeks. However, accommodation costs within the private rented sector are more expensive than University accommodation to which you should budget accordingly.
How to pay your deposit
Payment of your required deposit can be made in either of these ways.
1) Via our StudentPay website to pay overseas bank transfers.
• Pay fees and charges online using the currency of your choice.
• Commission-free - no extra bank transfer charges for 24 currencies.

Applicants who have paid a deposit and have had their visa refused are able to get a refund of any monies paid minus a small administration charge (£250). Applicants are required to send in documentation regarding their refund refusal no later than 60 days after the date printed on the visa refusal letter. Any refund applications received after this deadline will not be accepted.
Documents will not be accepted if they are sent by fax or email. It is the applicant’s responsibility to make arrangements for his/her visa application and ensure that this is done in good time to arrive at the University. It is also the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that they have the necessary funds available to them for their stay in the UK and to cover their full tuition fees. Applicants who are unable to attend due to late visa application will have their place deferred until the next available intake and in no circumstances will be entitled to a refund.
Please note: Applicants who have paid a deposit and have had their visa application refused on the grounds of fraudulent documentation will under no circumstances be entitled to a refund of deposit.

Category 4. Students who register with Newport and then transfer elsewhere or withdraw.
Students who register with University of Wales, Newport and then withdraw from their studies will be entitled to a refund of their fees (or part thereof) in the following circumstances:
-
Where a student withdraws from a course within four weeks of its commencement and tuition fees were paid in advance, a refund will be made of all fees paid minus the deposit payment. This application for a refund must be made early enough to ensure that the University has incurred no costs.
-
Where a student has paid the full fees and withdraws from the course, refunds will be assessed on a term by term basis, i.e. withdrawal in the Spring Term, only one term will be refunded.
The University reserves the right to consider individual cases, which may not be covered by these regulations.
N.B. In the case of category 4, students must have left the course early enough not to have incurred the cost of that semester.
