Background
Hailing from Japan, a Pecha Kucha is a presentation consisting of 15 - 20 slides, each shown for 20 seconds. A Pecha Kucha presenter has a maximum of 6 minutes 40 seconds to speak on their topic before the next presenter takes the stage. More information
The Newport Research and Graduate School Approach
All Newport Postgraduate Research Students and research active staff are invited to submit a Pecha Kucha presentation, on any aspect of their research. A prize will be awarded for the best student presentation.
Presentations will be made during the morning session of Newport’s Research Skills Development event, to be held on Wednesday 6th July 2011 in Room C29, City Centre Campus (11.30am – 12.15pm).
Guidelines
Do try to be creative with your presentations. The best Pecha Kuchas tend to be instantly engaging, interesting and clear. Remember, the group will be watching other
presentations as well as presenting their own! It may also be helpful to bear in mind that your audience will be cross-discipline.
Each slide should be, or include, an image. Text, if used at all, should be kept to a minimum. The slides themselves should serve as a background to the oral presentation, rather than forming the presentation themselves.
Please email your Pecha Kucha presentations to Joanne Morton by Wednesday 29th June. The presentations will need to be in PowerPoint format, with automatic slide transition set to 20 second intervals.
