Newport pays tribute to Honorary Fellow Victor Spinetti

The University of Wales, Newport has paid tribute to actor Victor Spinetti who has died at the age of 82.

The Welsh-born star of the Beatles’ films and Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood was made an Honorary Fellow of the University in 2005.
Mr Spinetti, from Ebbw Vale, had been diagnosed with cancer.

Commenting on the death of Victor Spinetti, Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Wales, Newport, Professor Stephen Hagen said: “Victor was a much loved and hugely admired part of life in Wales and beyond.

"His ability to make people laugh was only matched by his genuinely lovely nature which endeared him to all he met.

"He will be sorely missed and our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.”
