Radio 1’s Huw Stephens praises Newport facilities

BBC Radio One DJ Huw Stephens has praised the courses and facilities at Newport University after visiting students on the Creative Sound and Music course.
The popular Cardiff based DJ who also plays a key role in developing and promoting the welsh music scene was at the University’s City Campus to speak to students about the industry and tour the state of the art facilities available to Newport’s CSM students.
Before giving a talk to Creative Sound and Music Students, Huw Stephens said:
“Hopefully my advice will be useful and interesting. I always used to come to Newport for gigs and it seems like the music scene is healthy at the moment. There’s a lot of interesting dub-step and hip-hop being made in Newport and a lot of bands starting to break out as well.
“I’m sure courses like the ones here at Newport Uni that I’ve seen today and the facilities here help to encourage and nurture that which is really important.”
