DEHOV is part of the Work Based Learning programme made possible by the European Union’s Convergence European Social Fund (ESF) through the Welsh Government. If you are in private sector employment and live and/or work in West Wales and the Valleys, you may be entitled to fully or partly-funded training (conditions apply).
DEHOV provides the opportunity to maximise the opportunities the digital economy offers businesses. It does so by the provision of University short courses designed to reflect the needs of industry in the region. Encouraging professional development of staff at all levels, DEHOV assists in the creation of a better skilled workforce.
Offered through the Universities Heads of the Valleys Institute, DEHOV represents a partnership between the University of Wales Newport and University of Glamorgan.
The wide-ranging term Digital Economy covers a variety of areas including:
- The use of computers in an office environment e.g office applications, databases, spreadsheets, web technologies and design, programming and PC troubleshooting
- Trading online
- The use of digital media in marketing
- Using and maintaining automated factory equipment
- The use of mobile devices such as bar code readers to acquire and manage company data.
