Assessment and Guidance Services
THE DYSCOVERY CENTRE HAS BEEN INCREASINGLY FOCUSSING ITS RESEARCH AND CLINICAL WORK IN THE AREA OF ADULTS AND ADOLESCENTS WITH SPECIFIC LEARNING DIFFICULTIES FROM SCHOOL TO EMPLOYMENT.
As a consequence of this, as of the 1st January 2012 The Dyscovery Centre will no longer be accepting referrals for children under 16 years of age.
However, children who have previously been seen by The Dyscovery Team will still be able to access our clinical services for review.
The post 16 service will offer assessments and practical functional advice such as:
• Assessment for diagnosis
• Assessment for exam provision
• Assessment for workplace support
• Transition planning for higher or further education
• Transition planning for the workplace
• Organisation skills for education, home and workplace
• Goal setting
• Independent living skills
The Dyscovery Centre has an interdisciplinary team of health and educational professionals who provide assessments tailored to the needs of the individual. Every individual is different - we don't have a 'one size fits all' approach but listen to the individual to take a holistic approach of needs at school, home, college and the workplace.
The Centre team provides assessments and guidance for:
Children
Adolescents
Adults in college, university and the workplace
Parents
This may take place at the Centre or in the most appropriate settings. Intervention may be through individual or group sessions, or through therapeutic holiday programmes based at the Centre.
