The Dyscovery Centre runs holiday groups for children with specific learning difficulties
The Dyscovery Centre team has extensive experience of running a wide range of groups. These are usually small groups with a high staff ratio and provide a fun, positive, therapeutic environment for children and young people to gain new skills..
The groups are usually themed around specific areas or topics and always focus on a positive outcome and are loads of fun.
In the past we have run a variety of holiday groups, for example:
- Detective stories - the children had to find out the identity of the chocolate biscuit thief, analyse the crime scene and interview suspects
- Creating, filming and presenting a news programme
- Cookery - children created their own chef hats, made drinks and served them, as well as baking lots of yummy foods
- Becoming a superhero for the day - children created and stared in their own comic strip
Please contact The Dyscovery Centre for future dates.

One example of this was a transitions holiday group:
Preparing for Secondary School
Children attended The Dyscovery Centre to take part in a 'Transitions' holiday group and learnt all about how to be prepared for the transition from Primary-Secondary School. They cooked yummy food and had lots of fun in a safe, therapeutic environment. As part of the day, children made a website about changing schools. See www.move627.org to see lots of activities you can also do with your children we have developed.
