  • Biography : Jonathan is a graduate of the University of Wales and Ulster Business School; he is an elected fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, a member of the Academy of Marketing and chair of CIM Wales. His research focuses on how small, entrepreneurial and fast growth firms ‘go to market’, he is leader of the Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship Research Group (AMME) and editor of the international Journal for Research in Marketing and Entrepreneurship (JRME).Within the faculty he leads the ‘Re-Thinking’ Entrepreneurship Management Programme. He is a visiting academic at: The CASS Business School, London; Duale Hochschule Baden-Wurttemberg, Heidenheim; STIP Project, Swansea University; School of Engineering, Cardiff University.
    Jonathan is a regular commentator on business and enterprise in the national media.

  • Research expertise/ research interests : My research activities are multidisciplinary and sit at the interface between marketing, entrepreneurship and small firms. I have focussed my research to date on how firms ‘go to market’ and also on ‘what marketing means’ in operation. I am best known for my work on the development of marketing theory – especially ‘Contextual Marketing’ in relation to the entrepreneur and small firm and my philosophical challenges to ‘normative’ management theory.
