Welcome to the Student Ambassadors site

Student Ambassadors are current University of Wales, Newport students who help the Schools & Colleges Liaison Officer to promote University and student life to prospective students, parents and teachers. They attend schools and college events, presentations and UCAS fairs to talk about their personal experiences of higher education and student life. They take part in University events such as Open Days, Information Evenings and Taster Days giving presentations on student life and campus tours.

What can I expect to do as a Student Ambassador?

Student ambassadors can expect to be working with young people, usually aged between 13-18 years, to try to support, motivate and encourage prospective students to think about University. The role is diverse and you can participate in a wide range of activities as a student ambassador.

We expect all student ambassadors to work the 3 University Open days in October, November and June. Help with our organised campus tours showing prospective students and their parents round the University and information evenings.  Assisting the Schools Liaison Officer to run school visits such as taster days and apply online events. Some ambassadors may also visit schools to make presentations and others may attend the higher education UCAS conventions and careers fairs with the Schools & Colleges Liaison Officer. As an ambassador, you are able to fit the work that you take part in at a time that is convenient for your study.

Full training will be given at the start of the term and there are regular team meetings and further training available.

When can I apply for a job as a student ambassador?

We usually recruit new Student Ambassadors at the start of every academic year in September though if you are interested you can now apply anytime and we will put you on our waiting list for jobs. Look out for our adverts on the HR website, careers website, around the campuses and on facebook.
It’s a fantastic job that helps to develop skills that look great on your CV, meet new people, make new friends, have fun, and get paid for it!

Enthusiasm for the university and higher education is essential!

What have our student ambassadors said about the role?

Being a student ambassador will give you you experiences and opportunities that you are likely to look back on in years to come.  Past student ambassadors have always been eager to tell others of their positive experiences such as "was one of the single greatest experiences of my uni life" and "I enjoyed every minute of my role"

Take the time to see what other ambassadors have said about their role.
