What is ‘your’ Newport? What does it mean to you?
My Newport means being in a close knit community where I have access to every single necessity in a student’s life, like catching the free uni bus 15 minutes before a lecture and making it on time, having awesome tutors that encourage me to explore my creativity with a confidence that expresses individuality, having a student union that caters to diverse societies, sports, freshers fair, night life and the annual may ball. My Newport means the opportunity to make friends easily with people from all over the world, oh and having amazing coffee from the refectory.
What clubs or societies do you belong to or what are your hobbies?
Unfortunately I have not had the time to join any societies/clubs but my hobbies are drawing/painting, listening to music 24/7, hanging out with friends & doing random stuff on impulse because life is short.
Which campus are you based at?
I was based at Caerleon but I would be at Allt-yr-yn for 8 weeks and move to the new contemporary City Campus by January.
Why did you choose to study at Newport?
Simple, Newport offered me a gateway to show my work in a professional environment, travel to different places, improve my creative skills with an eclectic programme and contemporary technologies, impressive links with the fashion industry and I took it. In addition, Newport has a strong community with opportunities that recognises my career potential.
What’s the best thing about the University?
The close knit campus and small classes which provides students a strong academic relationship with tutors/lecturers. Student Services and the Students’ Union which is run by students, for students.
What’s the worst thing about the University?
I have not experienced anything bad about the University to be honest.
What advice would you give to prospective students considering Newport?
They should be prepared for the most amazing, beautiful, challenging, productive years of their lives.
Sum up your time at the University in one word?
Phenomenal!
