Studying History at the University of Wales, Newport, is very much a ‘hands-on’ experience: under the expert guidance of the History team, you will have the unique opportunity to explore in detail many of the nationally important historical sites that surround the Caerleon campus. Not only do we show you the sites; in our heritage conservation modules, we also encourage you to think critically about how the heritage industry presents the past. In a similar vein, our innovative History and Film module examines the often-uneasy relationship between History and cinematic representations of the past.
History at Newport offers you the chance to study many different types and approaches to history as well as many different eras: our modules span social, cultural, political, religious and landscape history, and cover the ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary periods.
