Sarah Crews 

In 2006 I started my degree in Performing Arts at Newport University with every hope of becoming an actress. Throughout my three years I learned so many techniques in acting for film and stage but the course also opened my eyes to the world of art and academia. During my third year I had the option to gain some experience in directing for the theatre which inspired me into applying for my Master’s in Theatre Directing. The staff at Newport were so encouraging throughout my undergraduate degree that after gaining my Master’s at Royal Holloway, University of London I am now back at Newport starting my PhD by research and practice in art and performance. I still have every opportunity to act and direct for film and theatre within the university and outside but with the encouragement and support of the staff I am now working towards becoming an independent artist, an academic and a visiting lecturer.
