“I am a Film & Television professional with more than twenty years experience I have had the great pleasure and opportunity of attending Newport Film School as a student during the 1980s and more recently as a visiting lecturer. The Film School has close ties with industry and as part of this programme I have conducted many lighting courses and cinematography lectures over the past five years.

I have found the learning environment creative, focused and the students to be dynamic and motivated. The teaching staff are inspirational & highly committed and the facilities are of a very high standard. The general ethos of the school has always had a special emphasis on the practical application of creativity with a strong understanding of the wider industry and it's needs. It was this approach that allowed me & many of my contemporaries to forge successful careers in film & television.

In 2008 British television companies like the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, made a significant contribution to our export economy, the total revenue from the international sale of UK television programmes and associated activities was £980m.  Film products manufactured in the UK made £2.5 billion pounds at cinemas around the world, add in DVD, merchandising, gaming, television rights and this pot for 2008 was £7 billion.  Newport Film School has always provided an essential conduit between learning and training and is essential to the continued growth of our industry in the UK.”
