Mike Rymer graduated with Distinction from MA Film in 2005, shortly after completing production of the confronting short film 'SICK'.
This 35mm drama dealt with issues of mental health and was researched in South Wales' primary care trusts. It attracted competitive finance from Film London, The UK Film Council through Screen South, and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, as well as the endorsement of Samaritans who called it 'a compelling and moving work'. The film was celebrated by festivals the world over, winning 14 awards and 6 nominations from 48 selections across 21 countries and 8 US States, and is now under offer from the UK's leading short film sales agents.
In 2007 Mike was an Assistant Director to Peter Greenaway on the Venice Film Festival Golden Lion nominated feature Nightwatching. In 2008 he was a special guest of the Euroshorts Film Festival in Warsaw where he delivered a Masterclass about his Production experiences.
He has been awarded a fellowship of the Royal Society for the Arts in recognition of his socially conscious short film and was recently represented by the British High Commission in Malta when receiving the Golden Knight Award. Mike’s current projects have been supported by The Pinewood Studios Group and developed by Screen South.
