The Youth and Community Work team at The University of Wales, Newport has been training and educating students to work with young people for over  ten years. As a result of their skills and experience in delivering professional training courses, many positions in local authorities, councils, youth centres and voluntary organisations in South Wales and further afield are filled by graduates from the Youth and Community Work courses delivered here.

After completing one of the following courses you will be well prepared to join them in a wide range of positions and organisations across the youth and community work sector.  Choosing a course at Newport will give you:

  • Opportunities to gain theoretical knowledge;
  • Increased networking across the youth work sector with colleagues and students;
  • Additional experiences of working with young people in professional placements across the youth and community sector including youth justice and sporting placement opportunities;
  • Contact with highly qualified academics that have the practical hands on experience as a result of their careers as youth work practitioners, academics and working within the voluntary sector.
