BA (Hons) Criminal and Community Justice & Youth Justice
Renate graduated in 2011 and has since earned employment within the Youth Offending Service and the University as a Support Worker.
When I read the University prospectus, I found both the Criminal and Community Justice and Youth Justice Degree Programmes had an extensive range of modules. All of which would help me gain an in-depth knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and Youth Crime at a deep and challenging level.
My confidence came on leaps and bounds from the first day on the course. I learned to study independently and take control of my studies. My whole attitude changed and I found myself talking about subjects that I wouldn’t have had the courage to even think about before beginning study.
I loved everything about University life at Newport. I thoroughly enjoyed being a student and participating in all of my lectures. The lecturers were very supportive, enthusiastic and committed. Returning to education as a mature student after bringing up my two children single-handedly was difficult for me. But the lecturers made me believe in myself and provided excellent support throughout.
The course provided me with knowledge in all aspects of the Criminal Justice System and in Youth Crime. It broadened my interests and helped me strengthen my abilities.
