Course Intro

Advertising forms the natural link between creativity and business.  It is about the communication of information to appropriate target audiences, and now involves almost every aspect of contemporary media, from print to TV and radio, and from online to mobile and social networking.

This award winning course offers a dynamic and challenging programme of study within the creative design environment of our new campus.  Projects will encourage you to be innovative and responsive to the constantly changing demands of the professional industry.   This course is specifically designed to help you gain a wealth of creative and technical skills, and also the ability and confidence to work in the fast paced and ever changing world of advertising.
Teaching is delivered by a friendly and very energetic team of staff who are able to offer a wealth of industrial and academic experience and who continue to engage with research through links with international design agencies.  They will encourage you to think innovatively in order to solve design problems, whilst developing your ability to critically engage with contemporary culture.

We take pride in our links with industry, and provide numerous opportunities for our students to work with creative professionals through ‘live’ projects, and through links with our former students who are now employed in creative design agencies throughout the world.

What you study

Over the three years we aim to provide an exciting and fulfilling educational experience that will build your creative ability and develop self-confidence.

Year one focuses on developing your ability to generate new and innovative ideas and concepts and to solve a variety of communication problems.  Workshops are complemented by introductions to a range of technical skills, and supported by a programme of classes that will explore the theory of advertising and media culture.

In year two you will begin to apply your creativity to a number of ‘real’ advertising situations by working directly with clients and professional agencies.  Students always thrive on the experience of collaboration, and rise to the challenge of meeting professional expectations.  This year also provides the opportunity to participate in our ERASMUS European exchange programme, or to explore work experience possibilities.

Your final year is regarded as a professional year in which you are able to apply the knowledge and skills you have acquired during the course.  Students are challenged by both national and international design competitions and all benefit from further opportunities to meet professional designers.
This course is actively involved in the D&AD education scheme that provides opportunities for some students to showcase their work to London advertising agencies at the end of the programme.
