The Foundation Degree in Law from the University of South Wales combines a thorough grounding in a range of legal subjects, with work based learning. The Foundation Degree in Law is an excellent stand-alone qualification in its own right, providing a solid basis for a career in legal services.
Having completed the Foundation Degree you may then choose to study for a ‘Top Up’ Degree in Law and Business or can apply to join a qualifying law degree course.
The programme not only includes key subjects within law such as Criminal Law, Family Law and The Law of Tort but also addresses work specific topics such as Legal Research, Legal Practice and Business and Legal Skills. A Work Based Learning module is also a key element of the programme.

Assessment
Assessment is based on course work and end of module examinations. Some assignments are group-based and some examinations are open book, with others based on previously distributed case studies. In the interest of increasing the employability of our students, all assessments are designed within the context of today’s challenging business environment, providing students with real life experience. Additionally, where appropriate, assessments will be linked to an existing business and to student’s workplaces.

This course is an excellent opportunity for students to top-up exisiting qualifications in a friendly and welcoming environment where they can meet like-minded people with whom they can share ideas, and good practice.
Many of our students go on to further study with us such as the ACCA or CIM programmes, depending on their pathways and interests. Others secure jobs in a variety of sectors, including as administrators, in sales, accounts and HR.
