Course Intro
Sports Coaching involves developing individual or team sporting talents through instruction and physical / mental training. This process of athlete development starts with the development of the individual coach. Understanding coaching roles and responsibilities is a fundamental part of coaching and is essential if a coach is to lead and support people to improved sports performance. As a sports coach becomes more experienced, coaching philosophy develops which influences decisions and actions.
You will increase your knowledge and understanding of theoretical and practical aspects that support professional coaching. This includes how the athlete develops through coaching, analysing performance and more. In the practical sessions you’ll enhance your abilities in delivering coaching sessions to meet athletes’ individual needs. You will also participate in practical assessments, fieldwork placements and have the opportunity to gain additional National Governing Body Coaching Qualifications.
Additional benefits include use of local facilities offered at Newport’s International Sports Village which include Velodrome, swimming pool, indoor tennis centre and more.
